Management Team Profiles


Altaf Jalil, Ph.D

Altaf Jalil, Ph.D, is the founding Director of CTI and a Professor of Department of Organization Strategy and Leadership at University of Dhaka. He brings professional expertise and experience of more than two decades as a senior consultant in the areas of trade-related technical assistance, private sector development, institutional development and capacity building, design and evaluation of social development projects, and regional trade facilitation and integration projects. Dr. Jalil has been working as an academic expert and technical adviser in various trade-related technical assistance and trade facilitation projects in different countries. He has led and participated in projects undertaken by multilateral organizations and international donor agencies including the World Bank, the European Commission, USAID, GTZ/GIZ, and CIDA. Besides, he has produced a wide range of research reports and publications in various academic journals.



Mohammad Thoufiqul Islam, Ph.D

Mohammad Thoufiqul Islam is an Associate Professor, Department of Management, University of Dhaka and Program Director of Center for Trade and Investment. He has several publications in local and international Journals in the areas of ICT, Trade & Connectivity and Skill development. Dr. Islam also conducted various research programs for DFID, IRB, NSDC,DMP and NISSAN. He completed his Ph.D in Management of Technology from Ritsumeikan University, Japan on Japanese Government Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship. Earlier, he completed his MA in International Trade at Ajou University, South Korea, and MBA in Management Information Systems from the Department of Management, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Islam got Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) scholarship for outstanding performance in his Masters level Study. Dr. Islam is contributing for the various Public Universities (such as Jahangirnagar University,Textile University, Barisal University) to develop their course curriculum and other academic affairs.



Muhammad Shariat Ullah, Ph.D

Muhammad Shariat Ullah, Ph.D, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management, University of Dhaka and is the Senior Research Fellow, CTI. In addition to his teaching experience in the University of Dhaka, Dr. Shariat has taught at Ritsumeikan University, Japan and Pusan National University, Republic of Korea. Dr. Shariat has his specialization in research relating to international trade, FDI and labor migration. He mainly conducts empirical research with panel data. He has expertise in applications of STATA and E-views software. He has 20 research publications in local and international journals, 2 monographs, and 5 publications in conference proceedings. He has participated and presented papers in many intentional conferences held in United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Italy, Republic of Korea, and Thailand.
